Notes: Born Anna Louise Friel of Irish descent, she became fluent in French in her youth (parents are language teachers); had intended on becoming a lawyer, but left school at 16 for a role as a series regular on "Brookside". Ms. Friel later joined the Oldham Theatre Workship in 1989. Most importantly, she overcame ovarian cancer in her mid-twenties and gave birth to her daughter in 2005. Now residing in Hollywood with her partner and child, she is set to star in three movies for 2008
